DF maps (Daylight Factor)

These maps show Daylight Factor (DF) levels on a virtual workplane. They give information on the performance of natural and artificial lighting.

These maps allow to study the performance of lighting through:

  • Validations of illuminance levels compared to European norms and RT2005 for clear or overcast skies and for artificial lighting,
  • Analyses and advices to reach required levels for sustainable architecture.
These maps allow to study energy savings through:
  • the increase in the use of natural light to limit energy consumption and increase comfort and pleasantness of luminous ambiences.
  • studies to adapt the intake and distribution of the luminous flux in interior spaces for any luminous climates, dark or bright overcast skies, clear winter or summer sky.
  • the study of greenhouse effect as a benefit in winter but a risk in the heating season.
  • the integration of different modern materials and technological devices.
